The Locke Saints Marching Band started in 1967 when the school was first open. After only the 1st year the band was a well known item in the community. It was known as the "Alarm Clock" the band would be hard at work practicing before school. In 1970 and 1971 the Saints marching band was chosen to represent the Los Angeles Unified School District in the Tournament of Roses Parade. In the 70's and 80's the marching band was a hard opponent in the LAUSD band and drill team Championships. In 1981 the band won the LAUSD Sweepstakes Banner and made history. The Directors of the marching band where Don Dustin and Frank Harris.
In the 1990's the band got a new look with new uniforms, staying with the same marching style as the 70's and 80's the band was under the direction of John Davis. The band went through many different directors after Davis and in 2005 season John Davis came back to Locke as a favor to Mr. Reggie Andrews the music department chair. But sadly left due to health reasons. The band had Dr. Poster in 2004, Davis with Jerald Slather in 2005 and right after that came Mr. Reggie Smith.
In 2005 After the Home Depot Battle of the band the band got a new director, Mr. Reggie Smith. He changed to whole style of the marching band from what is was known for back in the day from Show Style to Corp Style. In 2006 the Saints Marching
Band won 2nd place at LAUSD City Championships with the "Earth, Wind,
And Fire" Show, then in 2007 the Saints Marching Band Won 3rd at LAUSD
And took 1st high Music Honors with our show "GOSPEL". And now the
Locke Saints Marching Band and Color Guard have won 1st at LAUSD and
Made History and are City Champions with their show "Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street."
